Dan Clark started his horse training career in 1991 with a small facility outside of Lakeview, MI. A third generation dairy farmer,
animals have always been a part of Dan's life but horses would be the focus of a dream and a career.
Dan graduated from Stockbridge High School in 1974 and following graduated from Ferris University with a business degree in
1978. He also married his high school sweet heart Bev Parks that same year.
Dan and Bev have 3 children. The oldest boy Brandt works with Dan at the Bar 23 Facility. The next is Brandi, an accomplished
barrel racer and also a CPA in Grand Rapids. The youngest is Brie who is stand out basketball player and currently attending
Grand Valley State University.
Dan has acquired an outstanding knowledge of horses throughout his career through independent study. He has a vast library of
books that he studies constantly. Dan closely follows the techniques of the late Dennis Magner. Magner was a stand out trainer at
the end of the ninetieth century. Dan's modified program gets horses outside and on the trail as soon as possible. He finds that
horses gain a better understanding while outside of a fenced arena..
Dan has trained almost every breed and type of horse known in North America. If you are looking for a trainer who really will be
able to read and understand your horse then Dan is your man. Don't be afraid to call Dan at 989.818.0708 he would be glad to
listen.

Brandt started his horse experience the same way most people begin; with a cranky pony that loved to
buck. After he'd buck him off, he'd run to the neighbors hay field and indulge himself on some good hay.
Stubborn horses, like "Jackson", that had given up trying to understand and communicate to humans
became a major focus for Brandt's horse career. A focus that tries to help horses regain that line of
communication with a human so that there can be harmony and understanding between the two.
Although before his career in the horse industry, Brandt has had another passion. Freestyle and
Protection Bullfighting. Throughout his 10 year career he managed to win 2 Freestyle National
Championships, work the International Finals Rodeo, compete at the PBR World Finals, and just recently
placed second at the Bullfighting Protection World Finals.
The rodeo trail allowed Brandt to meet many great horseman and witness many different horsemanship techniques. With all of
his travel Brandt never lost his love of horses. He is in constant study whether it is anatomy, saddle fitting, horsemanship, or
nutrition. " I love to read and learn as much as I can. " says Brandt. " I have dedicated my life to horses and will never stop trying
to make myself a better horseman. I've learned from many of my own mistakes and would be glad to help others so they don't
have to make the same mistakes.
Brandt has managed and trained horses at the Bar 23 for 5 years now and is excited for what the future holds. On top of his
duties at the Bar 23, Brandt also is the Rodeo Foreman and Marketing Director for the Portland Rodeo Days held June 13-15 in
Portland, MI. You can check out their website at www.portlandrodeo.com .
Brandt is also proud of the fact that he will be marrying Adria Lasovage in the fall of 2008 who teaches all the riding lessons for
the barn. Together the duo is making an effort to teach better horsemanship throughout their area.
